Small mistakes, big deal

We need to learn to step back and take a FRESH LOOK.

The overall big picture is more important that each of the small parts.
Last week, after I got the last newsletter in my email, I had a really good laugh after seeing the SMALL glaring error in the email title. It was late night and I tried to squeeze in one more thing before leaving the studio to go home and sleep. I wasn't running on all cylinders at that point in the night, but I had to get the newsletter out!
I had tunnel vision, the kind we so often get when focusing on art. I decided the mistake went out, and I could not to go back and change it now. Instead... I'd wait to see who noticed. Surely such egregious an error would flood my email with responses pointing out what I missed. I'm sorry for my errors.
But then again we are our own worst critics. Sometimes we just need a FRESH LOOK.
Recently, I had learned that the KGB were able to get top secret information by using peoples natural inclination to correct. KGB Agents would go into the bar, slide up next to a serviceman and simply state incorrect facts about their naval vessels. The again might say that the ship you are on has an 18ft propellor. The service men would naturally correct them, that in fact, the propellor on the ship is actually a 16ft. They would easily volunteering the information to the agent. Clever.
A very effective technique for corrections. Though in my case the mistakes are never on purpose. But maybe we can learn something from mans very desire to correct incorrect statement. Our art is our statement.
Maybe we can bend this into a technique to help ourselves to learn what we do not know, and what to correct in our art. Maybe we can employ our inner agent to discover what is off. Our eyes may be fooled but many our inner agent can get the facts straight.
I'm sure I'l still keep making mistakes, so be prepared for more.
A refreshingly Fresh look.
This past weekend, Galina Hughes and Elena Bushan hosted their Blooms and Brushes course and it looked like a huge success, one that smelled great too. Above are some pics they snapped, too bad you cant scratch and sniff the screen.
I am hoping that if there is interest they can run another at the studio. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in doing.
The next big thing coming up is Bobbi Dunlop's Masterclass. I am sure it will fill quickly so be sure to get your spot we are limiting the attendance numbers in this masterclass.
Everything else is full and running and we hope you continue to attend the may drop in sessions we have. We will extend our Portrait drop ins through April and as long as people are still interested. Last week we had Teika, this week we have Kayla coming in. You can always check the calendar on the home page of the Atelier Artista Website to see who and what are booked when.
Jennifer's show is open at Spanicarts and a bunch of us are showing this weekend at the Ramsay Design centre info below.

See you all this week in sessions.
