I hope all had a lovely Mothers day, we also had half a dozen birthdays it seems as well.
Peggy, Leslie and Elena had theirs on Mothers day which I'm told was also Dali's B-day.
We celebrated Dale's B-day on Monday with some Black Forest Cake. He's continuing his master copy and positing progress to his blog here: https://sacredpeak.ink/2025/05/13/update-patroclus-by-jacques-louis-david-9/
Please fill out the birthday book near the sign in sheets so I can keep up on these. Its always good to celebrate in the studio as adults we need excuses to have cake sometimes it helps the art making.
Classes and drop-ins continue as per usual except for the stat holiday Monday when cSPACE is closed, take a day to garden etc. You can always check out the calendar on the home page of our website if you aren't sure whats going on or who is on the models stand and when.
No Rise & Draw, Directed Studies, private lessons or Long pose May 19th.
Get your drawing from life practice in multiple times a week and use up those multi-passes.
Portrait drop ins are booked for the Month of May, if you keep coming and theres continued interest I'll keep booking them into June.
Bunny's Book club is officially launching May 24th 4-6pm.

I'll be bringing some gems from my private collection and laying them out on tables. Come check out a high quality assortment of inspirational art books for you to peruse. You are welcome to bring your own as we will discuss what best approaches for learning for each individual persons needs. You can sit around and sketch, snack and have a cup of tea. All provided and to attend is FREE.

It may be short notice but I also received an email about a unique figure drawing event that may be of interest:
Figure Drawing Evening at Sparrow Art Space as part of our month-long residency. This evening will be unique, as it will take place within our "pillow fort" installation, and I, the model, will be presented in a way that specifically explores the unconscious, dreams and the anima.
I am emailing you to invite you to our event, and ask if you could share it with the figure drawing community. Our residency is a multidisciplinary project that combines contemporary dance, modelling, drawing, script writing, film and photography. I sincerely hope that this event will further bring the different arts communities together, and offer a different kind of experience to figure drawing artists in Calgary. Expect some unique poses and a carefully curated set design!

Of course since we are a hub of skilled figure drawers you should also know about the bi-annual DRAW 'TIL YOU DROP event in coming up on June 6-8.
So far so good, though I haven't had any sign ups for the first summer camps insofar so if all else fails and they don't run I'll either take the time to work on my own art.... or host a summer camp almost exactly the same for ADULTS!!! So if you know creative youth that would love an observational art class get them signed up before it is too late.
As always.... I'm certain I'm forgetting something.
