Last chance for greatness

Foundations in Paint starts this Tuesday at 6:30. The emails just went out to remind the registrants and you weren't on the list yet... there are still a few spots left.

This 5 days foundations is an intensive. Each 3 hr class covers theory and practice worth months of studies at the ateliers and academies abroad to help you have a sturdy foundation in which to grow your practice over the summer.

Each class is well thought out for the principles and techniques that the classical artists mastered. If you are a beginner or more advanced and need some inspiration and new ways at looking at your creative practice you will not want to miss this chance to sponge out of Bunny his years of study to distill down the essence of whats practical in application.

Each class comprises a portion of theory, which includes some slide examples photoed on bunny's travels, the science behind our perception and how we can make that illusion on the canvas. We then go into the practical hands on methodology for paint mixing on the palette. How to get the proper balance of mediums, values and the feel for proper paint application onto the surface. Then we jump into the exercise and you can take it as far as you have need or time, as our aim is to arm you with all the info you need to take it to run with it on your own.

We are an "old school" art school so you will get physical paper hand outs. So we recommend having a duotang or binder for your notes and some canvas paper or pad to be hole punched and added for your experiments based on what you will learn in each class. Its also great to have a sketch book for additional notes beyond the course handouts. What else will you need?

Each class will have different requirements. We start simple with two tubes of paint and move up to many in a logical progression from black and white to vibrant colour in glazing. You will bring all the other things you like to use to do paintings. Your palette, cups, paper towels, brushes, etc. We have the easels, aprons, light, subject matter etc. But even if you don't have everything on hand, as every class somebody is missing something. Bunny has a library of supplies to support his art addiction.

If there are spots available we may offer drop in to a single session that interests you, so you can just come in to focus on one area of expertise that has been troubling you. That being said, they are sequential so it will help you the most to take one after the other but anywhere is a good place to start with art.

The secrets of the masters will be yours to wield. To find out more you can visit our website to read more about each course individually or the series as a whole. Bunny has been working on this since his return and he promises there will be more great opportunities coming up including his unique technique and materials based Art history course that will launch in the fall with the start of the new school year.
