This full-day workshop will focus on understanding light, shadow, and value structures in figure drawing using charcoal on watercolor paper.
Working with a live nude model, participants will explore how to organize the figure through clear value relationships and a strong separation of light and shadow.
Throughout the day, we will look at how to simplify complex lighting, identify the main value families, and use value structure to create a stronger sense of form, volume, and depth.
The workshop will include mini lectures, demos, practical exercises, and a longer drawing session at the end focused on applying these ideas in practice. Particular attention will be paid to fall-of-light, halftones, reflected lights and highlights, and to how they function within the overall organization of the drawing.
The workshop is open to all levels: it will provide a strong foundation for beginners, while also offering more experienced students a chance to deepen and refine their understanding of value, light, and form.
