This workshop will be focused on both short and long pose charcoal drawings from life models.
Different techniques mentioned in “Henry Yan’s Figure Drawing-Techniques and Tips” such as quick anatomy practices, direct drawings, anatomy studies from action poses, and various techniques used in doing long pose drawings will be demonstrated and practiced. At the same time some difficult areas including how to catch accurate human proportions and perspectives, rendering three demential body forms with enhanced details, will be demonstrated and practiced in class. This workshop is for all the levels.
Bio:
Henry Yan is an accomplished artist and educator who taught figure drawing and figure painting in the Fine Art and Illustration departments at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for nearly three decades.
Throughout his distinguished teaching career, he has mentored and inspired countless artists, many of whom have gone on to achieve tremendous success and recognition in a wide range of creative fields.
His figure drawing book, “Henry Yan’s Figure Drawing-Techniques and Tips”, published in 2006, has become a highly regarded resource used by artists and students around the world. His artwork is also widely held collections internationally.
Today, he continues to teach figure drawing and painting through workshops around the world, sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for art with artists of all levels.

- Vine or Willow charcoal: soft, medium size
